#919 - September 24 2012 18:18:24. <Mouse> People have done some stuff with evolutionary generation of FPGA code... <Mouse> ...and ended up with FPGA circuits that they cannot understand. <Mouse> Something like a group of gates that had only inputs connected to the rest of the circuit. They diked them out - and the result no longer worked; the evolutionary algorithms had found a way to exploit a side-channel. Noise on power lines? Inductance? Who knows.... <Catfish_Man> I heard about one where they tried to build an oscillator and it built a radio receiver picking up a signal of the right frequency from elsewhere in the building <Mouse> that's pretty funny! |
